The subject-matter of this study is liturgical law in the Czech lands Middle Ages, i.e. Great Moravia, Duchy Bohemia, and Kingdom Bohemia. Liturgical was shaped by decrees popes, ecumenical councils, Decretum Gratiani, collections decrees. ordinances metropolitan diocesan bishop or statutes a monastic order played role at particular church level. customs cathedral are summarised agenda force within territory ecclesiastical province diocese. A new Slavonic liturgy arrived Moravia final third 9th century beginning 10th century. Popes issued several regulating its use. newly-established bishopric Prague subsequently restored Olomouc used Latin alone. form determined surviving manuscripts: pontificals, missals, breviaries, lectionaries, psalters, antiphonaries, graduals. These codices often richly-illuminated, most elaborate ones being owner, bishop, for prestige promotion. large number these books survive libraries manuscript from them 14th 15th centuries.
